Why is KEYTIME a superior teaching method? Unlike traditional methods of teaching touch-typing, the KEYTIME method and materials are language-based. KEYTIME was started in 1987 by educator Linda Lewis, M.Ed. While conducting computer training for schools and businesses, she recognized the need for a faster way to learn typing. Individuals who lacked keyboarding skills had difficulty using computers. They often did not have six to ten weeks to learn how to type. With innovative application of proven learning principles, Ms. Lewis was able to dramatically reduce the time required to learn typing from weeks to hours and to increase student success rates.<> Is KEYTIME an established method for learning touch-typing? In KEYTIME classes and private instruction, in businesses, schools, and homes, KEYTIME has taught hundreds of thousands of individuals to touch-type since 1987.<> How does the KEYTIME teaching method differ from conventional typing methods? KEYTIME bases it’s teaching methods on scientific learning principles, where learning is fun and easy. It is based on the English language rather than how the keyboard is laid out. Unlike conventional methods with rote learning, KEYTIME builds on language patterns already established, which makes it easy to learn and remember. Most current keyboarding programs use the same rote learning, which has been used for over a hundred years, just adding ‘bells and whistles’. KEYTIME takes into account all different learning styles and levels. Students and teachers alike say they enjoy learning with KEYTIME because ‘It really works!’<> How do you learn to type in one hour? Materials are carefully sequenced and correct typing behavior is modeled and shaped. Throughout the instructions there is immediate feedback and positive reinforcement. What are QWERTY and DVORAK keyboards? These names are derived from the sequence of keys on the respective arrangements. The “standard” Qwerty arrangement was actually devised to slow down typing speed to avoid jamming the mechanical action of early typewriters. When typewriter’s with better mechanical actions were engineered, the DVORAK arrangement was created, placing the most-used letters closest to the typist’s fingertips and offering dramatic increases in typing speed. Because it is in place, the inefficient Qwerty board remains “standard,” even though the Dvorak arrangement is easily learned. Dvorak is universally available for both Windows and Mac computers as an easily activated part of the operating systems. <> How do I place an order or make a payment?
