Effective quick start options for students ages 10 through adult. To provide more individualized attention, we’re happy to announce smaller class sizes and more class options! Our 1, 2, 3, and 4 session options are suitable for beginners as well as experienced keyboarders. The standard Qwerty keyboard layout is regularly taught during our scheduled classes. Alternative layouts, such as the Dvorak keyboard or single-handed layouts are taught by special arrangement. Materials are included with all classes. As with any new skill, practice is required. Allot adequate time (at least 30 minutes to an hour) outside of class for assignment completion (varies by student). Your Path to Success: Upon course completion, plan to practice for 7 consecutive days for about an hour (four 15-minute segments; three 20-minute segments; two 30-minute segments; one 60-minute segment). This will be the first part of the 30-day Practice Plan included as part of the course. 

During the first session, students learn the entire keyboard lettering by touch and begin applying their new skill. Students are taught the equivalent of a conventional classroom keyboarding program in less than a semester’s time. The most powerful results stem from correctly applying this new skill on a regular daily basis. Practice with our materials yield the fastest results. Pick the option that best meets the learning experience you wish to have.

Choose from Just the Basics, Basics Plus, Standard, or Enhanced Course option—whichever is the best fit for your keyboarding goals!

1-Day: Just the Basics (2.5 hours; $265) | This is an introductory touch-typing course. Class includes assessments, ergonomics, key letter location, capitalization, location of the period & comma, general goal setting (based on handwriting speed assessment), and a general 30-day Practice Plan to be sent within a week after the session. Designed for disciplined students, who are adept at self-study. Suitable for those who are 14 and over. Students receive the Standard KEYTIME® Skillbuilder Learning Kit. Students will attend one 2-1/2 hour session on Day 1 only.

2-Day: Basics Plus (5 hours; $295) | Includes Just the Basics Course, dexterity drill, key location review, horizontal numbers, punctuation, words per minute exercises, reward chart, personalized goal setting, and a personalized practice plan after course completion. This is an introductory touch-typing course. Designed for disciplined students who are adept at self-study. Suitable for students 12 and older. Students will attend two 2-1/2 hour sessions on Days 1 & 2.

3-Day: Standard (7.5 hours; $325) | Includes Basics Plus and exercises focusing on Speed. A course completion certificate will be issued at the end of class. Students will attend three 2-1/2 hour sessions on Days 1-3. This course meets most student needs.

4-Day: Enhanced (10 hours; $365) | Includes Standard Course plus exercises focusing on Accuracy. Students have the option of in-class 10-key training or an online 30-minute follow-up session within 3 weeks of course completion. Plus an upgrade to the Deluxe KEYTIME® Skillbuilder Learning Kit, which includes the video used in class. Students will attend four 2-1/2 hour sessions on Days 1-4.

Paced for busy adults and older teens who are task-oriented self-starters, highly motivated, and require less in-class training. It is not suitable for students younger than 14, unless stated otherwise. It’s ideal for those who are short on time, but disciplined and committed to following through on their own. The standard Qwerty keyboard is regularly taught. Alternative layouts, such as the Dvorak keyboard or single-handed layouts are taught by special arrangement. Regardless of layout, be sure to allot adequate time outside of class for assignment completion with our class materials, which are provided in class. Time required varies by student. Your Path to Success: Upon course completion, plan to practice for 7 consecutive days for about an hour (four 15-minute segments; three 20-minute segments; two 30-minute segments; one 60-minute segment). This will be the first part of the 30-day Practice Plan included as part of the course. 

This course is offered throughout the year with various options, including the 1-day Just the Basics option. Weekend options are primarily offered four times per year over holiday weekends: MLK Holiday Weekend (January), Memorial Day Weekend (May), Labor Day Weekend (September; Basics for Back-to-School for ages 12 and up), and Veterans Day Weekend (November). Session lengths vary. See calendar/schedule. Occasionally, other dates may be added. Participants will receive a dexterity assessment and personalized goal-setting by the end of the 3-day course.

Day 1: Basics | The focus is on building muscle memory and proficiency with a focus on building good ergonomic habits. Course covers ergonomics, finger paths for letters, capitalization, punctuation, and horizontal numbers.

Day 2: Speed | Exercises focusing on improving Speed and increasing words per minute will be added.

Day 3: Accuracy | While still working on increasing Speed, students will begin working on honing their Accuracy.

Increased speed comes naturally when practicing with our materials and following our methodology. As with any new skill, practice outside of class is required. Those who see the most powerful results, immediately begin using this new skill correctly and frequently on a daily basis and commit to practice with our materials for at least 30 minutes per day. Allot adequate time after class to practice at least 30 minutes a day.

All enrollments for online courses must be completed at least 2 weeks prior to the session to allow for receipt of the class materials and completion of the prerequisite assignment.

Ages 10-Adult: Basic introductory touch-type instruction in one 90-minute session. Standard Online Course: $199 for one 90-minute introductory touch-typing session, Deluxe Skillbuilder Learning Kit (which includes a DVD for home study), one 30-minute private follow-up session (to be used within 3 weeks of course completion), plus a personalized Lesson Plan, and unlimited support by email after class ends. Prerequisite video viewing assignment must be completed prior to attending the session. Course includes an assessment, ergonomics, review of finger paths, muscle memory exercises, combo drills, capitalization, horizontal numbers, and punctuation. Enroll at least two weeks before the session in order to receive the Skillbuilder Kit prior to class. There will be exercises to complete before the class begins. Delivery before class start date is not guaranteed when enrollment is not completed at least two weeks in advance.

Ages 14-Adult: Basic introductory touch-type instruction in one 60-minute session. Basic Online Course: $165 for one 60-minute introductory touch-typing session, Standard Skillbuilder Learning Kit, plus a general Lesson Plan, and unlimited support by email after class ends. Prerequisite assignment must be completed prior to attending the session. Students are taught ergonomics, finger paths for letters, muscle memory exercises, alphabet drills, capitalization, and the period & comma. Enroll at least two weeks before the session in order to receive the Skillbuilder Kit prior to class. There will be exercises to complete before the class begins. Delivery before class start date is not guaranteed when enrollment is not completed at least two weeks in advance.

Ages 14-Adult: Basic introductory touch-type instruction in one 30-minute session. This is for the diligent student who can quickly grasp and apply new concepts. Quick Start Online Course: $20.20 for one 30-minute introductory touch-typing session, KEYfinder Quickstart Learning Kit, plus practice exercises that will be emailed after the session. Prerequisite assignment must be completed prior to attending the session. Students are taught ergonomics, finger paths for letters, muscle memory exercises, capitalization, and the period & comma. Enroll at least two weeks before the session in order to receive the Learning Kit prior to class. There will be exercises to complete before the class begins. Delivery before class start date is not guaranteed when enrollment is not completed at least two weeks in advance.
